Day 22 – A rest day in Dubrovnik (Saturday 4th May 2024)

Breakfast this morning was a both a happy and sad occasion. Happy to be spending some more time with our friends, sad that it would be the last time. I guess that’s an indication that our last two weeks have been one of life’s little treasures that I’m sure we’ll all cherish for ever more. I hope everyone travels safely to wherever they’re going next whether that be back home to loved ones or onward to new and exciting places.

For the record our travelling companions were:

Guido from Lucerne, Rob from Cornwall, Polly and Dennis from North Michigan, Charlotte from Diamond Creek, Sasha from Tamworth, Mel from Foster/Tuncurry, Deb from Sydney, Sam from Perth, Janice from Melbourne, Michelle from NZ and Elaine from Newfoundland.

After our goodbyes and cries of “let me know if you’re in my part of the world”, we all headed back to the hostel to prepare for our next steps. Kerry and I spent the day mostly in the room re-energising for the rest of our holiday. I spent a lot of the day banging away at this keyboard while Kerry got our her stitching and attacked that. In the early afternoon we took a break from our toils and went out for some fresh air and a bit to eat from the little bakery next door. Ivana stopped by on her away to the supermarket.

At 6:00pm we arrived in the reception area of the same hostel to meet our new travelling companions for the next week. Guido has joined us for this part of the trip along with Doug and Laurie from Wisconsin, Vicky from Devon, Geraint from Wales, James from the UK, Ahmed from Canada, Lily from Australia and Riah from Australia. Our leader is Bashkim from Zagreb.

After the introductory meeting finished we gathered at last night’s restaurant for a chance to get to know each other a little more. Yours truly put up his hand to be the owner of the new WhatsApp group – 2024 Dalmatian Adventure.
